What
exactly is a Yurt?
Yurt,
the Russian word for ‘Shack or Shanty’, is a small dwelling
designed to be transported from place to place with ease.
Used
across the plains of Asia by nomadic tribe’s people for thousands
of years, the traditional yurt is decorated with beautiful fabrics,
handmade carpets and patterned braiding. Cool in the summer and warm
in the winter the yurt itself is supported with solid wood trellis walls
and has at its centre an ornate ‘roof wheel’ to further
strengthen the structure. Covered with a thick, watertight covering
the yurt keeps you dry and warm in any weather.
